Thing 1

My experience with social media has been relatively limited up to this point, despite that little voice in the back of my mind nagging about the potential benefits of engaging it properly. Like most, I have a Facebook and an Instagram, however, I'm not incredibly active on either at the moment. I've dabbled in Twitter, but still to this day, don't understand it at all and therefore, never use it. Last year, I started my first ever blog, The Natasha Complex, in which I've taken a novel I'm working on and chopped it into smaller, blog-length sections, in order to share some of my creative writing. One of my main goals is to expand the readership and following of this creative writing blog, and therefore, I hope to take away from this programme a greater understanding of various forms of social media, particularly Twitter, and the ways they can be used to further promote my work. As a PhD student in Creative Writing at University of Surrey, I feel sharing my writing through forms of social media will be highly beneficial to both my research and creative progress, and it is therefore worth taking the time to learn how to get the most out of each medium. Additionally, I hope to connect with other researchers and writers, and enhance my knowledge and participation in both the academic and creative communities.
